THEATRE OF WOMEN 5 is an annual 24 hour festival (9/11/10) of new work casting and writing for only women. This year we have 5 words for the participants: funny, sexy, fearless, smart, flirty

Dream Theatre Company strives to push our audience to the end and bring them back again. The theme of "Theatre of Women" historically was to have roles written for the actress to show the world that Passion, Strength, Innocence, and Intelligence are traits to be valued and celebrated by every human, gender aside. For THEATER OF WOMEN 5 we wanted to explore these 5 simple words about women: funny, sexy, fearless, smart, flirty. The exploration can include any combination of the words. We are also inviting artists to work with each team to develop a cohesive artistic look for each play. They can be lighting designers, set designers, costume designers, visual artists, sculptors or any other type of artist that would be ready to make these shows look great!

This celebration of the ACTRESS is an accelerated process.  In our 24 hour festival we will cast only ACTRESSES to read, memorize, rehearse and perform the plays written only hours before in the span of 15 hours.

Here is the schedule:

AUDITIONS: September 7 – 6pm-10pm

24 HOUR FESTIVAL: Saturday, September 11 from 12:00am-11:59pm

WRITERS: 10:00pm (Friday night 9/10/10)  - 6:00am

DIRECTORS:  Meet at 7:00am to assign/read scripts

ACTRESSES:  Meet at 8:00am to meet directors and read scripts

ARTISTS: Meet at 8:00am to meet casts and director

REHEARSAL: 9:00am - 3:30pm

TECH REHEARSAL:  3:30pm - 6:30pm

PERFORMANCES: 8:00pm & 10:00pm

EVENT LOCATION: Dream Theatre - 556 West 18th Street - Chicago

DEVILISH CHILDREN AND THE CIVILIZING PROCESS

Dream Theatre Company is holding auditions for their upcoming world premiere play, DEVILISH CHILDREN AND THE CIVILIZING PROCESS which runs 10/28/10-11/21/10 Thursdays through Mondays. (non-equity, no pay) Seeking men and women of all types. Performers of all styles encouraged (mime, dance, mask, spoken word, classical, etc.) Auditions will be held on the evening of Wednesday, August 25th & callbacks on the evening of Thursday, August 26th. Auditions consist of cold readings from the script. Email annainthedarkness@gmail.com with H/R to schedule an audition time.

Rehearsals will be evenings and weekends through September and October performances are October 28-November 21 Thursdays-Mondays totaling 18 performances.
